What’s the point of audio releases?
Dienstag, 7. Juni 2016
Veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao has once again landed in a controversy.
Dasari Narayana Rao
Veteran director
Dasari Narayana Rao has once again landed in a controversy. He called
the audio functions of big stars, ‘tedious occasions’. He attended the
audio launch of Kotha Kothaga Unnadi as a special guest, Dasari said,
“It’s not an audio function, it’s like a jathara and I can’t understand
the need for dance performances at audio functions. Why these dance
performances and for whom? They release many promos, make videos before
the film releases and create a lot of hype. But we have seen many films
bomb even after the hype,” he said, adding that big films should do away
with audio release functions. “So many people come on the dais and
these events are never properly organised,” said the veteran director.
He also said that smaller films needed more publicity, because
big-banner films already have many huge stars.

Trivikram weaves box-office magic
Samstag, 4. Juni 2016
This film is very important for Trivikram, Nithiin and Samantha.
Trivikram Srinivas
The Nithiin and
Samantha starrer A. Aa.. surprised everyone by taking over the box
office on Thursday itself, the day of its release.
The first’s day share of the film in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was nearly Rs 5.5 crore, which is very big for a Nithiin film.
But more than the stars, it’s director Trivikram who should get the
credit. The director has a huge fan following, mostly because of his
trademark dialogues, and there are many such dialogues in this film.
Trivikram films traditionally do well overseas and A. Aa.. too got a
huge opening abroad, collecting Rs 1 crore on the first day. The film’s
overall collection was nearly Rs 7 crore and the way it was grossing on
Friday, it’s evident that it will be a blockbuster.
This film is very important for Trivikram, Nithiin and Samantha. The
actress, especially, will heave a sigh of relief after the
disappointment of Brahmotsavam.
Sam and Chaitu to make it official?
Samantha watched her film A. Aa.. with none other than Naga Chaitanya
at a multiplex in Hyderabad. While the two tried to remain as
inconspicuous as possible, a few people recognised them and clicked
their pictures.
Samantha’s open association with Naga Chaitanya is interesting as she
had announced recently that she would be marrying an actor from the
industry. With the two now being seen in public, an announcement might
be on its way.

Avantika Vandanapu: A rising star
Dienstag, 31. Mai 2016
Brahmotsavam’s Avantika Vandanapu, all of 12, has a busy year ahead, with three films in her kitty.
Avantika Vandanapu
If you have
watched Mahesh Babu’s Brahmotsavam, you wouldn’t have missed 12-year-old
Avantika Vandanapu, who played the superstar’s cousin in the movie.
Asked how it was working with a big star like Mahesh Babu, she says. “I
was quite nervous initially. After all, it’s not every day that one gets
to debut alongside superstars like Mahesh Babu, Kajal Aggarwal and
Samantha. “I assumed, like many others, that they would be the serious
types. But they were actually quite friendly and made me feel very
comfortable,” she says, adding that the entire shooting experience was
wonderful.
She is now enjoying all the adulation and recognition coming her way.
The Telugu-speaking US resident never thought of taking up acting. She
actually began her career in the entertainment industry in the popular
dance show Dance India Dance — because she loves to dance. “I competed
with participants from all over the world. I was the first runner-up,”
she says proudly. People took notice of her talent during the show and
suggested she take up acting. Sensing her potential, her mother, Anupama
Vandanapu, enrolled her into a film school. “I enjoyed the process a
lot. That’s when I decided I wanted to become an actress,” adds
Avantika. They then sent her show reel to the casting agents of
Brahmotsavam and as they say, the rest is history.
But, how does she manage her studies? “My mom enrolled me into home
school, a place for child actors like me, back home. It’s an online
public school. I came here prepared knowing it was going to be a busy
year,” she says. And Avantika was right. She has already signed three
films. She will be seen in Gopichand’s Oxygen, Naga Chaitanya’s Premam
and an upcoming Malayalam movie starring Mohan Lal and Gauthami.
