Daggubati Venkatesh is an Indian film actor who stars in Tollywood films. He has won seven Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Awards South.

Early life and Family

Venkatesh was born to legendary movie producer and former MP, Dr. Ramanaidu Daggubati and Rajeshwari in Chennai. He has an older sibling Suresh Babu Daggubati who runs Suresh Productions, and a young sis, Lakshmi. Venkatesh did his education in Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai. He graduated with a Bachelors in Commerce from Loyola College in Chennai and got his MBA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, USA. After his come back to India, he wanted to get into film production but instead, became an actor in Telugu films.

Child actor

He has acted as child artist in the 1971 film Prem Nagar.


Venkatesh debuted in Kaliyuga Pandavulu in the season 1986, which got him Nandi award for best male debut actor. At an beginning stage in his profession, Venkatesh acted in Swarnakamalam, directed by K Viswanath, which got him his second Nandi award. Bobbili Raja, with the wonderful Divya Bharti, was a box office hit. Venkatesh worked with Ram Gopal Varma in the movie Kshana Kshanam. In 1991, Chanti, a family drama, both of them were box office hits.

During 2009, he teamed up with his friend Kamal Haasan for Eeenadu, which was released in Sept 2009. His newest movie is Namo Venkatesa, instructed by Sreenu Vytla; it was released as a Sankranthi special celebrated its grand 100 days function on April 26, being 2010’s first 100-day film. In 2010 he was in Nagavalli, a remake of Aptharakshaka.[3] In 2012 he was in Bodyguard than in 2013 his latest movie Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu was released in which he co-stars the lead male role with Mahesh Babu.

He has won 7 Nandi awards, 4 Filmfare Awards, and many other awards as best actor for playing a variety of challenging roles in his career spanning 69 feature films in 27 years. His brother D. Suresh Babu, a very successful producer, has produced most of his successful films under Suresh Productions.


On April 24, 2010, he signed with Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd as their brand ambassador for Andhra Pradesh
