ASADUDDIN OWAISI

Asaduddin Owaisi (born May 13, 1969 Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a Barrister, Indian politician and President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Since 2008. He is a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Hyderabad constituency in Lok Sabha Lower House of the Indian Parliament Since 2004. Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi, is also known as “Naqeeb-e-Millat”.



Personal life

Asaduddin Owaisi was Born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, to Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, an Indian politician and Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, for six consecutive terms until stepping down in 2004 in favour of his elder son. His education was from Hyderabad Public School and subsequently did his Intermediate (A' Levels) from St. Mary's Junior College, Hyderabad. He graduated with B.A. from Nizam College, Osmania University, then LL.B (London), and Barrister-at-Law (Lincolns Inn), England. Asaduddin Owaisi is married and has 4 daughters.Reading books on history and religion, Playing cricket, spending time with kids.

Political career

Son of late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, a dynamic leader in his heyday, Asaduddin Owaisi evinced interest in politics right from his student days. He is the president of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimmen (AIMIM) and took up the party responsibilities after the death of his father in 2008, playing key role in the politics of Andhra Pradesh, through running All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen as strong as his father and maintaining strong hold in Hyderabad. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has had a successful run in and around Hyderabad under his leadership and strengthened it through attracting more youth into the party fold. Asaduddin Owaisi has represented Hyderabad, constituency in Lok Sabha, Lower House of the Indian Parliament since 2004 where his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who also served as the Member of Parliament for Hyderabad constituency for six consecutive terms, stepped down in his son's favour to continue the dynastic political role. Asaduddin Owaisi made his political début into the Lok Sabha from the Hyderabad constituency by defeating his nearest rival G.Subash Chanderji of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a margin of 100,145 votes. It was the seventh straight victory of the All India Majlis-e Ittihad al-Muslimin in the Hyderabad seat. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s Asaduddin Owaisi secured a place among the Top 10 MP’s asking trenchant questions in in the 14th Lok Sabha relating to Indian democracy, Indian secularism, Muslim’s freedom and corrupt state machinery besides many other pertinent matters. He was also a member of the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly for ten years prior to becoming a Member of Parliament. Elected to the AP state assembly from the Charminar constituency of Hyderabad, in 1995 and 1999, he was also the floor leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in the Andhra Pradesh state assembly.

His brother, MLA Akbaruddin was allegedly shot at by youngest nephew of Mohammed Pehalwan and his associates in Hyderabad on 30 April 2011. While he was visiting the constituency of Chandrayangutta for which he is a MLA since 1999.
