‘Pavithra' staged in many sabhas in Tamil Nadu
Lovers of Tamil drama in the city had an opportunity to witness `Pavithra', a social drama presented by Goodwill Stage at Rasika Ranjana Sabha here on Monday. Directed by Kovai Padmanabhan, popularly called Kovai Paddu, the play depicts a complete family story. The story and dialogue are penned by Kovai Anuradha.
The drama deals with the consequences of a marriage that is solemnised purely on the basis of the horoscope compatibility between the bride and the groom. Kovai Paddu himself don's the role of a key character, Gopal, and Maheswari plays the role of Pavithra. The drama with a few comedy scenes had portrayed the plight of a girl who was married and settled in the United States, and how she came to her native place in India and then found a new life by marrying another person.
The audience enjoyed the story and the interesting dialogue by Kalaimamani Kovai Anuradha, a well-known story writer, actor and director. The drama was staged a number of times in the main sabhas throughout the Tamil Nadu.
The impressive performance of all the artistes including Kovai Padmanabhan, Maheswari, A.Ravikumar, Srinivasan, Paulraj and Anandhi added flavour to the drama.
